How Much Does This Cost? Is It Covered by Insurance?

Great question.

We're a self-pay practice, which means we don't work with insurance companies. This gives us the freedom to actually spend real time with you instead of being limited to what insurance allows (which is usually 15–20 minutes).

Sessions are [your price].

We know that's an investment, but for a lot of people, finally getting care that actually helps is worth more than saving a copay on appointments that don't go anywhere.

We can provide you with documentation for potential out-of-network reimbursement if your insurance offers that.

I'm Nervous This Will Be Like Every Other Disappointing Experience…

Yeah, I totally get that.

Honestly? If I'd had a bunch of bad experiences, I'd be skeptical too.

All I can tell you is: we're not trying to rush you through an appointment so we can get to the next person.

We actually want to understand what's going on with you.

And if it doesn't feel right, that's okay too.

But a lot of people tell us they can feel the difference pretty quickly—like someone's actually listening and taking time for once.

Will You Just Try to Put Me on Medication?

Fair question.

Here's the honest answer: sometimes medication is really helpful. Sometimes it's not necessary.

We'll never push medication on you, but we also won't avoid it if it could genuinely help.

We talk through it—why we're considering it, what it might do, what the alternatives are—and you decide what feels right.

If we recommend medication, it's because we genuinely think it'll help, not because that's our default answer to everything.

I've never seen a psychiatrist before and honestly, I'm kind of terrified. What if you think I'm crazy or beyond help?

Look, I get it. You've probably got this mental image of what seeing a psychiatrist is like—being judged, analyzed, told you're broken somehow.

That's not what happens here.

You're not crazy. You're dealing with something difficult. Coming here just means you're ready to figure it out, which is actually pretty smart.

Your first session? We just talk. You tell us what's been going on. We ask questions to understand the full picture. We explain what might be happening and why. Then we work together on what could help.

Most people walk out thinking, "Huh. That was way less scary than I thought."

No weird psychoanalysis. No judgment. Just a straightforward conversation with someone who knows how to help.

What if I get there and can't find the words to explain what I'm feeling? I barely understand it myself—how am I supposed to explain it to a stranger?

You don't need to come in with a perfect explanation. That's literally our job to help with.

Plenty of people show up not quite sure how to describe what's going on. That's normal.

Just start anywhere—"I haven't felt like myself lately" or "I'm just... off" works fine. We'll ask the right questions to help you figure out what's actually happening.

Sometimes people come in thinking one thing and leave with clarity they didn't have before. Like, "Oh, that's what's been going on. Now it makes sense."

You don't need the perfect words. We'll help you make sense of it together.

Nothing you say is going to surprise us. We've heard it all, and we're here to help, not judge.

Show up. We'll handle the rest.
